The City of Neuchâtel offers childcare facilities and efficient, welcoming educational structures.
Four municipal day-care centres (Crèches des Acacias, des Bercles, du Centre-Ville and de Serrières) care for preschool children in their pleasant surroundings, adapted to the children’s needs.
From the age of 4 years upwards, the children attend pre-school, the first stage of the schooling process, then, from 6 years, they attend the obligatory primary school.
Running in tandem with this are the five after-school day-care centres, (Le Cerf-Volant, Le Carambole, Le Domino, Le Mikado and Le Serpentin) which look after children between 4 and 11 years. Only parents who work and live in the town are eligible to register their child / children in these establishments.
The final stage primary and secondary education is the Regional Secondary School of Neuchâtel (Ecole secondaire régional de Neuchâtel, ESRN), which groups together the region’s five school centres.
